Pan - GMO Card 23 by ravynnephelan Pan - GMO Card 23 by ravynnephelan
Medium: Acrylics and coloured pencils
Size: 8.5"x11"
Represents: Sexuality

Busy, busy, busy ... I was working on Ares and totally messed up his face after almost finishing the entire painting. So I carefully washed the paint back of his face in a mad hope that I could salvage a couple of days work if the paper was not too badly damaged.

And while I waited for paper to dry on one painting, I decided I had best start another and that 'nother' is this wee depiction of Pan. He is everything Ares is not. The Ares painting is a see of red and black, while this one is green with creams and whites. Ares flowed until I began to work on his face, and then turned into a nightmare. Pan has been a delight.

He has restored my senses and now I am ready to work on Ares again.

Pretty job with all the flowers and the hair, it was a nice choice to have it grow up to the bellybutton in the natural male pattern instead of stopping at the waist. He's also associated with male fertility, after all.

I thought that was a sweet story how, even after his mom ran away screaming, Hermes thought that his kid actuaslly looked awesome and brought Pan to olympus to show him off... which then came in very handy when Typhon attacked...

Absolutely perfect depiction of the horned God Pan. Many Christians (or any religion with an evil deity) depict the Devil himself to be a horned man with a goat's lower half. This is the exact description of the lovely Pan. I detest those who believe the God I worship is a horned God. This absolutely beautiful piece reminds me why I continue to worship him. :) Thank you.

I love how you describe your relationships with your paintings. Like this story on painting Ares... and how Pan gave you a relief. Very interesting, since Ares IS the God of War, and Pan, well, he came and gave you an ease among nature and sweetness before you went on on the war.
Really, they have lives on their own

BTW, I love how you used the cream colors here. I often see Pan depicted with brown fur and everything, this is the first time I see one bright-colored. Really love it.

The serenity you captured here is remarkable.
Truly his face speaks volumes.
